"I guess it happens everywhere".That's what the neighbor of our latest gang land hit said to the BCTV reporter asking her about the shooting death of a 20 year old Asian male on Sunday,March 9,'08."Nine shots in 3 seconds ",said another,"it was so fast and sharp,I'm really scared living here now".That's how the residents of an upscale south Vancouver neighborhood described Vancouver's 7th homicide and seventh gangland hit.It looks like the twenties in Chicago.I wonder how long it will be before people get the correlation?Camera shots of an automatic weapon graced the screen as police cordoned off the area. The weapon had a 50 round clip and a pistol grip but was a rifle type gun. With 9 shots in 3 seconds it had to be fully automatic. This is becoming common place in a city in which gun crime used to be very rare .Welcome to our world class city with it's world class poverty and the poorest postal code in the country. We now have world class crime rings and world class killers. This could be dealt with quickly and with no violence if we'd just take the profit out of the drug market.Of course that would mean the end of so many interest groups that it's almost impossible to even get the suggestion heard.Things do seem to be changing. It's just very hard to get a read on whether it's going to become better or get worse.
